#9250 Ascaris IgG ELISA
ELISA kit for the diagnosis of ascariasis in humans
Parasitology and clinical relevance
is caused by some soil transmitted helminths of the genus Ascaris. Humans can be infected by
ingesting infectious eggs upon contaminated soil, water or food. Most infected people do not show any symptoms. However, in
some cases, symptoms appear at the lung stage (persistent cough, shortness of
breath and wheezing) or at the intestinal stage (abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting,
and diarrhea). Diagnosis is based on the detection of eggs in stool, but,
in many cases it is not conclusive for the diagnosis. Serological assays
has an important place on the final diagnosis of the disease.
96 determinations of IgG antibodies using standard methodologies.
Wells sensitized with Ascaris coelomic soluble antigens.
8-wells polystyrene breakable strips: useful and economic format for laboratories with a small workload.
CE registration: CH-202205-0023
Sensitivity and specificity
The test detects IgG antibodies
against parasites of Ascaris genus in human serum.
A sensitivity of 81%
was found with 27 sera positive with A. suum crude extract antigen and
negative with Toxocara canis Bordier ELISA kit.
A specificity of 96% was
found with 181 sera of blood donors (Swiss).
of 98% was
found with 96 sera from patients of an infectiology unit (Swiss).
A specificity of
found with 44 sera positive with A. suum crude extract antigen and
positive with Toxocara canis Bordier ELISA kit.
A specificity of
was found with 65 sera of patients with other parasitic infections.

coelomic soluble antigens.
